Ted Nash uses RICO REEDS
Tenor Sax:
Selmer "Jimmy Dorsey" model (body and bell have different serial numbers). Wolfe Tayne mouthpiece (A.D. facing). Rico Royal reeds, size 3 1/2.
This tenor was owned and played by my uncle, Ted Nash. I started playing this horn in the late 1980s, when he retired. The mouthpiece I have played almost exclusively since I was 17 years old. I actually just switched to a less used version of the same exact mouthpiece and facing. Beautiful engraving work by Jason Dumars.
Alto Sax:
Selmer Mark Vl, 102,xxx Beechler m9s mouthpiece. Rico Royal reeds 2 1/2. Alto body is gold lacquer, with silver plated keys (original, Paris).
Soprano Sax:
Yanigazawa curved. Bari 67 mouthpiece. Size 2 1/2 reeds. I also just bought an H. Couf (from the 70s - Grover Washington model), and have been using that lately.
Clarinet:
Buffet circa 1960. Vandoren B40 13 mouthpiece. Size 3 reeds.
Flute:
1950s Haynes, low B.
Alto Flute:
Gemeinhardt, solid silver head joint.
Piccolo:
Haynes wood, circa 1980.
Bass Clarinet:
Selmer circa 1920s; double octave mechanism converted to single. This bass clarinet was owned and played the late, great studio/jazz reed player Wilbur Schwarts, who was known for his lead clarinet sound in the Glenn Miller band.
